Aligning supply chain complexity with product demand and design characteristics

This study models the alignment of supply chain complexity with product demand and design characteristics formulates appropriate strategies to enhance alignment. An integrated theoretical framework linking all three main constructs complexity, namely, coordination, collaboration, configuration, complexities is developed empirically tested. Data were collected from a cross-industry sample 273 Australian manufacturing firms analysed using structural equation modelling. The results show that volatility demand, life cycle, innovativeness directly impact on collaboration. Product modularity, other hand, more likely indirectly influence collaboration through mediating role coordination. Higher in increases coordination configuration while reducing Based findings, taxonomy proposed provide reference frame for practitioners formulate manage or mitigate risk associated growing complexity.
